UPDATE!!!

We will award six $500 scholarships totaling $3000 thousand to high school students for the 2025/2026 school year. Four scholarships will be based on academic achievement, and two will be awarded to need-based high school students. The $500 award can be used towards tuition or books.



The scholarship application deadline is March 20, 2025, and scholarships winners will be awarded on April 20, 2025.

The Prayer Warrior Nonprofit Organization:

Deacon Prince Albert Hearns Jr.'s commitment to community service and compassion lives on through the Prayer Warrior Nonprofit Organization, founded by his children. This organization embodies the values of love, grace, and service that defined Deacon Hearns' life. The Memorial Scholarship Fund ensures his legacy will extend beyond his lifetime, touching future generations through the empowerment of education.

The Academic Achievement Scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated outstanding educational performance. To be eligible, applicants must have a proven record of academic excellence and a strong commitment to their studies. Scholarship funds may be used to cover the costs of tuition, textbooks, and other educational expenses.

The Need-Based Scholarship is designed to provide financial support to students who may face economic challenges in pursuing their higher education goals. The scholarship aims to ensure that no deserving student is unable to afford the costs associated with obtaining a degree. Scholarship funds may be used to cover tuition, textbooks, and other essential educational expenses. By addressing the financial barriers that may prevent students from accessing higher education, this scholarship promotes equality of opportunity for students from all backgrounds.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must be graduating high school seniors who reside in Dallas County, Tx.


  • Intending to continue education at a two or four-year college accredited university.


  • To qualify for the Academic Achievement Scholarship, students should have a strong academic record. This includes a minimum 3.0 GPA requirement. 


  • For the Need-Based Scholarship, applicants must provide documentation demonstrating financial need, including family income, expenses, and any extenuating circumstances. May require the submission of financial documents, such as FAFSA forms and tax returns.


  • Completed scholarship application. Applications must be submitted by the specified deadline.


  • Personal essay.


  • Students must show official proof of enrolment prior to receiving the scholarship award.

Application Materials:

  • Application: A completed application form providing personal details, academic achievements, and/or financial need information.


  • Personal Essay: Applicants should write a thoughtful essay that answers the following questions:


  • 1) Tell me about yourself. How would you benefit from this scholarship? 
  • 2) What are your academic and/or career goals? 
  • 3) Discuss a challenge you have overcome and how it has shaped you.



  • The essay should reflect your aspirations, personal experiences, and how the scholarship would impact your educational journey.


  • Transcripts: Provide official high school transcripts to verify academic performance.

Selection and Award:

A committee comprising of family members will review the applications and select recipients. Scholarship recipients will be notified promptly following the selection process. Recipients will be celebrated, and their stories shared to inspire future applicants.

Annual Recognition

The Hearns/Sharp family will award scholarship(s) annually in honor of Deacon Prince Albert Hearns Jr. 


These scholarships will serve as a tribute to Deacon Prince Albert Hearns Jr., reflecting his commitment to community service and his impact on everyone he encountered.
