He was a dedicated family man that served at his church and the community for forty-three years. He was a Vietnam War veteran. He was a husband, father, uncle, brother, and grandfather who passed away at the age of eighty, on Easter Sunday 2024. He left behind his wife, Ophelia, his children, the late Frederick Lee Blakely, Peter Alexander Hearns, Christian Hearns, Ariana Sharp and his grandchildren, Bolden, and Colson.
Prince Albert Hearns, Jr., was born October 13, 1943. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at Jarvis Christian College and graduated in 1967, with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a minor in Human Performance.
That same year, after he graduated from college, he was drafted into the United States Army. While in the Army, he served as a Medical Specialist in Vietnam from March 1968 – March 1969. He received the Vietnam Service Campaign Medal. He was recognized as a Sharpshooter with the M-14 and was also an expert with the M-16. Hearns, Jr., was a war hero in the war. After serving the country that he loved so much and completing his time in the Army; he was honorably discharged.
He was a humble, grateful, and thankful man. He did not talk about his time in the Army. Upon leaving the Army he ended up in New York City, and he opened a fast-food restaurant, named Pee Wees. He married and a few years later, after the birth of his first son, he moved his family to Duncanville, Texas.
In Dallas, Texas, Mr. Hearns, Jr., opened a family-oriented restaurant, named ENOCH. He then joined a church named, Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship (OCBF.) There he served his church in the position of a Deacon and his community for 43 years. He was extremely active in the Prayer Ministry at OCBF. Deacon Hearns, Jr., taught bible classes while serving as a Deacon within the church.
Deacon Hearns, Jr., permanent employment included working in food services for the Dallas Independent School District (ISD,) and Fort Worth ISD. He worked for the school district for most of his adult life, then retired a few years ago. Upon retirement, he dedicated all his time to his family, community, and church.
Our father was not perfect, but he was a humble, caring, and compassionate person and father, who showered his family and friends with love and affection. Deacon Hearns, Jr., had a way of making every person in his presence feel unique and special. He always reached out and helped strangers. Whenever you visited his home, he always welcomed you with love, friendship, and a beautiful smile.
Our dad would also always take the time to voice his opinion within a biblical perspective and took the time out to stop whatever he was doing to share God’s gospel with anyone who would listen. First and foremost, he was a Christian, a man of God. Not only that, but he would always ask if he could pray for you. He was a prayer warrior.
He was known as the “Prayer Warrior” in his church and family.
